There are over 300 New Illinois Laws that take effect in 2024. Here is a summary of some that may impact your life. PAID LEAVE FOR ALL WORKERS ACT (SB 0208/PA 102-1143): Requires employers to provide 40 hours of paid leave annually for full-time employees or prorated amounts for part-time employees, which may be used for any reason and without documentation. Note that employers in Chicago are subject to the City of Chicago’s paid leave and sick ordinance that may have different requirements than the Paid Leave for All Workers Act.

Schaumburg-based Lavelle Law will continue their Breakfast Briefs series on Nov. 8 with a presentation on the importance of employee handbooks. The meeting will explain why employee handbooks are important, discuss the critical components, and highlight Illinois law changes coming in 2024 that merit a review and update of existing handbooks. The event will take place from 7:45 to 9 a.m. at 1933 N. Meacham Road, in Schaumburg.
