New Illinois Employment Laws for 2026 – a Recording
A Breakfast Briefs Recording
Lavelle Law hosted a seminar focused on the new employment-related laws that take effect in Illinois in 2026. While over 280 new laws were enacted statewide, this session zeroes in on the critical updates that directly impact employers, workplace policies, hiring, and HR practices. The presentation covered several significant updates that took effect January 1, 2026 (with additional changes rolling out later in the year), including:
- Expanded protections and restrictions under the Illinois Workplace Transparency Act for employment, severance, and settlement agreements
- Prohibitions on discriminatory uses of artificial intelligence in employment decisions
- Paid break time for nursing mothers under the amended Nursing Mothers in the Workplace Act
- Expanded coverage under the Illinois State Employees Group Insurance Act
- Upcoming unpaid leave under the Family Neonatal Intensive Care Leave Act (effective June 1, 2026)
These changes impact workplace policies, compliance obligations, hiring practices, and more for Illinois employers. For personalized assistance or to discuss compliance strategies, contact Attorneys Lance Ziebell or Sarah Reusché. They can be reached at 847-705-7555.
