Success Story – Former Spouse Forced to Pay-up

Domestic Relations/Family Law • December 17, 2024

Failure to Follow a Court’s Order Could Result in Paying the Other Party’s Attorney’s Fees

Background:
Our client divorced several years ago. The divorce judgment required her former husband to remove her name from all business records and accounts on a business they owned during the marriage. The ex-husband refused to remove our client’s name for a business loan. We filed a petition for contempt against the ex-husband and though he used numerous excuses and caused significant delay, in the end, he was required to finally remove our client’s name from the loan and pay our client’s attorney’s fees.

Challenges:
The ex-husband’s actions revealed he had no respect for the court’s authority. He came up with numerous excuses and caused great delays in the process.

Result:
Our client received the result she wanted – the removal of her name from the business loan. She also received reimbursement of her attorney’s fees from her ex-husband.

Today I completed my court case with attorney Annette Corrigan and had a great outcome. All I can say is she is outstanding. Annette came in on my case after (my former attorney) retired. Annette immediately updated herself with the situation and professionally and efficiently took control to get a great outcome for me. She is a good communicator and a dynamo in court. In court when the other attorney came at us, she confidently and firmly made her points. She fought for me, her client and I felt that, and I felt the judge did too.

She is confident and very professional. I didn't worry as I could see she had everything under control.  Annette kept me updated, scheduled and filed all documents and court requirements on time. I never had to worry. She gave accurate instructions and directions.

Lavelle Law has a wonderful attorney representing your firm. I will refer Annette and your firm in the future to my family and friends.

It means a lot when you're in a situation where you require legal representation to have such a knowledgeable and kind attorney to help you through the tough times.

Thank you, Annette Corrigan.
