 As of July 1, 2019, a distracted driving offense in Illinois will carry a harsher penalty. In this video, Lavelle Law defense attorney James Doerr explains the new update to the Illinois law regarding distracted driving. Beginning July 1, distracted driving will now be treated as a moving violation, not a fine-only offense. James’ advice is to keep your hands off your phone while driving and be aware of this law that takes effect on July 1, 2019.
