The Family Law team at Lavelle Law are trusted advocates protecting clients and their families. If you are considering a divorce, have questions about child custody, child support, the collaborative divorce process, prenups, or orders of protection, be sure to attend this informative seminar.

Join Lavelle Law’s family and divorce law attorneys as they discuss several critical issues in the entire divorce process and explain the different paths to consider in choosing what is right for you and your family.

Attorney Amil Alkass will discuss how the courts and law address issues of marital versus non-marital assets and how such assets are awarded to each party in a divorce or legal separation proceeding in Illinois. A discussion will also address other financial obligations that result in a family law dispute; such as child support, maintenance, and other child and spousal financial contributions including post-high school education, extracurricular activities, and other expenses not addressed with child support.

Attorney Colleen Hurley will present and address child-related issues that arise during a family dispute or divorce and will provide an overview of how the courts address decision-making rights, parenting time/visitation, and other issues that relate to a "custody" dispute.

Attorney Kristina Alkass will discuss how a party can protect themselves from an emotionally or physically abusive spouse or relationship and will discuss the remedies available to a victim of domestic violence.

Attorney Patti Levinson will address alternatives to litigation and the use of mediation to resolve a divorce dispute between the parties. Litigation in a court proceeding is not always the only option; a discussion will be presented addressing alternative methods for resolving a family dispute or divorce.
